Home Build Dream

Okay, I have an update! One month ago my husband and I got promoted into senior positions. We each doubled our money, which collectively gave us more money than we’ve ever had before. Once our promotions were finalised, we started talking to luxury home designers near the Mornington Peninsula to get an idea of what houses could be built with our budget.

We have a very decent budget and can pretty much build anything we want with it, but as I said in my last post, we are going to live frugally like we’re used to. We don’t necessarily need the biggest house on the biggest block, but we do want comfort, something unique and something that our kids can one day grow up in.

Living by the beach would be a dream come true for us. We’ve always lived in the eastern suburbs, over an hour’s drive from the beach. It would be incredible to wake up in the morning and go down to the beach for a swim before work or take our kids for a walk before bed.

My husband and I cried happy tears after our conversation with the luxury home builder. He was so supportive and excited to help us, that it made us feel like this really is going to happen. It’s crazy to think that everything we’ve been working towards is finally going to become a reality. Growing up poor has made us so appreciative of our lives and we know how fortunate we are to be in a position to be able to build a bespoke family home. I think it will take about a year to build, and in that time we are going to save as much money as we can so that when we bring our children into the world, we have enough money to take care of them properly.

Sometimes happy endings really do happen.
