Future Painter

When I grow up I want to be a painter.

I paint my pictures for my parents all the time and I always bring in my own pictures for show and tell. My teachers have called my pictures artwork which is really cool. In our computer time at school my teachers told me to research famous painters to help me decide what I want to be when I grow up. Every grade six does this because we have to know what we’re doing before year seven.

My parents are going to send me to an art school so that I can be a painter. Melbourne, where I live, has a lot of artists. I really like going to the lane that has all the street art with my parents on weekends. They told me that I’m good enough to do the same and that one day I’ll be a famous painter. I don’t know what I’m going to paint yet that will make me famous, but I know I’m going to paint inside the house and I’ll be the best interior painter in the world. It’s going to be really cool.

I’m so excited to go to art school. Everyone keeps telling me that I have the world at my feet and that I can create anything. I’m going to paint for the rest of my life. My parents keep all the paintings I have made and so do my teachers. They said that I might want to frame them one day. I think they’re good paintings but I don’t think they’re going to be that good once I’m famous. I’ll probably be painting the best paintings ever when I’m famous.

Yesterday someone told me that I could also paint houses as a job. I didn’t know what I could paint things other than paper. Maybe I’ll paint houses onto paper… or paint paper onto houses.
